Book "Design in Bosnia Herzegovina ", Publisher: ULUPUBIH, 2007
"This is the first book about ULUPUBiH although this Association has been
acting for fifty years already. In as much as its publishing, although being initiated
first of all by a wish to mark the jubilee, represents a feat. People who
have given shape to hundreds of monographs during this half of century have
expressed a desire to make the book about them.
It could have been done with pleasure, if fairly well systematized material
on self-assigned theme existed. But nobody worked on the theory and history
of shaping, criticism was unengaged, and the little few attempts of writing
about the applied arts and design in BiH didn’t have the semantic continuity
which would be sufficient for an overall picture to which the Editorial
Staff could rely on. Unfortunately, also a major part of modest and “artistic”
non-systematized documentation was destroyed by skillfulness of
war destruction in Sarajevo.
So from the very beginning of idea about this book it was clear that it only
could be a pleasant, nicely formed picture of the Association, but not in any
sense the complete review of what the authors gathered around the ULUPUBiH
were doing for all this time. The Editorial Staff expects to have the
understanding of those who in their memories have more than the editorial
team succeeded to collect.
We hope that in some future publication these possible omissions would
be corrected."
